One Direction Infection

Like Chicken Pox, Swine Flu and even a common cold, a new disease has come up in the world. This disease only affects girls ages 10-20 and it is highly contagious. I am speaking none other that the One Direction Infection. You may have heard of Bieber Fever, but this is much worse. My sister and I have caught it and now we hooked onto One Direction.
In case you didn't know, One Direction Infection is a disease which you start to like the band One Direction.

-Constantly listening to One Direction songs
-Calling the band members by their nicknames
-Hanging up posters in your room
-Going to the mall and looking for all things One Direction
-Singing their songs in the shower...and pretty much everywhere else

I am not going to give a bio of each band member, but if you have the urge to learn more about them, you have One Direction Infection. If you could care less, then you are fine and healthy.

Sunday Night or Monday Morning?

Monday is one of the most hated days of the week. That is a fact. Ask anyone you know. What my proposal is that Sunday nights are equally as bad.

What's wrong with Monday morning?

  • starting a new week
  • getting up early in the morning
  • the weekend is over
  • vacation ends
  • nothing to look forward to
Why Sunday nights are bad as well?
  • waking up to Monday morning
  • tired from all the fun from the weekend
  • knowing that your weekend is over
  • no staying up late
  • not being able to sleep because you woke up too late on Sunday morning
Sunday nights can be equally as bad as Monday mornings. Next time you wake up on a Monday morning hating it, think about what you should have felt last night. On Monday morning, you have already won half the battle.

Who are you?

Personality is a word that we use often, but do we really know what it really means? If I went up to you right now and asked you to describe your personality in three words, most people would reply with adjectives. Personality is the different behaviors and actions you do to define who you are. The Type A and B Personality theory also know as the "Jacob Goldsmith Theory" is a theory that describes two common, but different personalities as patterns of behavior that could raise or lower your chances of developing heart disease. I was wondering about this topic because if someone asked me to describe my personality, I wouldn't know how to answer.

Type A:

  • ambitious
  • organized
  • highly status conscious
  • can be sensitive
  • care for other people
  • truthful, impatient, always try to help others, take on more than they can handle, want other people to get to the point, proactive, and obsessed with time management
  • workaholics

That sounds just like my dad.
Type B:
  • live at a lower stress level
  • work steadily
  • enjoying achievements but not becoming stressed when they are not achieved
  • do not mind losing and either enjoy the game or back down
  • creative and enjoy exploring ideas and concept
  • thinking about the outer and inner worlds
I would define myself as a type B personality. Next time someone asks what kind of personality you have, just answer with two simple words; type A or type B.

If you are still confused, you can take this test to see what type you are.

Why the Olympics are Special?

Is there any TV event that you can name that is famous worldwide and people from all over the globe watch it so intensely? The answer is the Olympics. This event, that occurs every four years, is the ultimate athletic showdown from all the countries. In my opinion, I think that the Olympics are more than a competition. The significance of this event is much more than to see which country has the best athletes.
  1. The Olympics give the world a reminder that even though we are separated by fences and boundaries, we are still the same. We are all still human beings and the life on this planet. The Olympics remind us that we are all together even though we may be physically separate.
  2. It is a tradition. Traditions are not broken. They are legacies that are passed over many years and generations. The Olympics are a legacy and is not meant to be broken. For example, if there were a world war going on right now, there would still be the Olympics.  The Olympics are a tradition that is respected in every country of the world and not even a war or catastrophe can break it.
  3. The Olympics inspire. Many of the sports and talents shown in the Olympics can be seen as impossible to the viewers at home. All the  Olympians are role models to the next generation. When a gymnast completes a complex routine successfully in the Olympics, little kids around the world are saying " I want to be able to do that one day." That motivates them to follow your dreams and reach your goals. The medals and the fame are just incentives that make Olympians strive for their dream even more.
Tomorrow, when you watch the Opening Ceremony for the Olympics, remember this post and the real significance of the Olympics. Maybe one day I will be watching you on TV representing your country in worldwide famous event we call the Olympics.

Movie Update

Movie tickets are so expensive. $10 for a ticket and then you get ripped off in food. $6 for popcorn and $4 for a tiny box of candy. Bottom line; you have to pick carefully to which movie you are going to watch in theaters.

1. The Avengers: It is definetly worth watching in theaters. It's action packed and the story is great. Chick Flick lovers might not enjoy this one. Captain America, Iron Man,Thor,Hawkeye and the Black Widow= an awesome movie.

2. The Amazing Spiderman: It is basically a remake of the 1st Spiderman, but so much better. Andrew Garfield is so much more funnier that Toby Maguire. It gives a humorous twist on an intense, action packed movie.

3. Madagascar: Kids would love this, but if you are an adult or even a teen, don't watch it. This movie doesn't have the witty humor and funny scenes like the other 2 Madagascars.

Heat Wave

Nothing sucks more than to be trapped inside your house on a hot day. Here in NC it is so hot that I can't even go outside. I am writing this post to give some ideas on what to do inside the house to make your summer fun.

  1. Take out old photographs from your childhood and take a trip down the memory lane. Even if you’re not the emotional kind, it is always a pleasure to look at a cuter you.
  2. If you like to indulge in creative activities, you can even make a collage or poster out of your old photos.
  3. Paint all your crockery purple.
  4. Try out chemistry for kids and become a mad scientist!
  5. Go skinny dipping.
  6.  Rearrange the furniture in your room/house. This helps breaks monotony.
  7. Paint. This is always a pleasurable activity, even if you don’t quite know how to. Who knows you might discover latent talent!
  8. Take some time out and appreciate someone important in your life. Write them a thank you note.
  9. Create a prom dress entirely out of disposable cutlery.
  10. If you’re a pet lover, you always have the option of teaching your pet a new trick. Tip: Patience is a virtue.
  11. Answer all questions with ‘purple monkey dishwasher.’
  12. Draw using your left hand (right if you are a lefty).
  13. Challenge your friends for a wizards’ duel.
  14. Buy a tiger soft toy, put it on a leash and drag it around your neighborhood calling it Hobbes and discussing life’s travesties with it.
  15. Make a house of cards – always a great way to pass time and learn patience.
  16. Tell your friends to call you Princess Consuela Banana-hammock for a day.
  17. Take your pet for a walk and pretend it is breaking up with you as soon as someone passes by.
  18. Experiment with poetry. If it is good, you would have discovered a talent, if not, you can always put it up for a few laughs here.
  19. Give back to nature: plant a few seeds.
  20. Use your extra time to do something useful: clean your wardrobe!
  21. Make a new playlist or CD, this time for a special someone.
  22. Learn a new language, an exotic one.
  23. Insert encouraging messages into helium-filled balloons and release them. Be sure to include your email address so people can contact you if they find one!
  24. Go to Yahoo Answers and answer some of the more ‘interesting’ questions.
  25. Replay an episode of Cops using remote controlled helicopters and cars.
  26. Find out more about your ancestors and develop a family tree.
  27. Learn to solve a new puzzle. For example, Sudoku, Wordoku, Pic-a-Pix.
  28. Engage in a physical activity. When was the last time you went jogging, cycling or trekking?
  29. Call up friends in the neighborhood and play games. Soccer, basketball and Frisbee are great options.
  30. Teach yourself a sign language. This comes in handy in awkward situations, where you don’t know the local language or cannot talk (during classes, for example).
  31. Write the script for an ad selling coffins.
  32. Make an anonymous threatening letter by cutting out words from a newspaper. Send it to your enemy.
  33. See how quick you can start and stop your digital stopwatch (no more than 0.03 seconds is the time to beat).
  34. Go on a walk armed with your camera. Snap pictures of things that look like letters of the alphabet.
  35. Do a Google search for “test subjects needed” or “volunteers needs” and volunteer for something.
  36. Ever tried sand art? If not, then try it now! Sand art in jar looks really beautiful indeed.
  37. Do you recall your favorite book as a child? Go and reread it! It is bound to make for an amusing couple of hours.
  38. Pretend to be dinosaur with a sore bottom
  39. Write your biography and illustrate it with stick people.
  40. Use green nail polish to paint uncomfortable looking rashes all over your body and tell folks you were bitten by a Martian.

  44. Eat all your food without using your hands.
  45. Call that one person you haven’t talked to in a really, really long time.
  46. Take a bubble bath, scented candles et al.
  47. Design your paper snowflake.
  48. Cover yourself with fake blood and lie on the sidewalk outside your house. See if anyone cares.
  49. Make a movie about something ridiculous: correct techniques of drinking from a can, things you can stack on your cat before it makes an attempt to move.
  50. Climb inside your freezer in your bare essentials and see how long you can survive.
  51. Cut out pictures from old magazines and newspaper and create your very own specialized wallpaper.
  52. Set up a tent in your living room or backyard and go ’camping’.
  53. Try origami.
  54. Write a letter to someone using only letters cut from newspapers and magazines.
  55. Make fancy birthday cards. That way you indulge your creative juices and save some money.
  56. If there’s snow, invite your neighbors, family and friends for a ‘snow war’. Create ‘forts,’ ‘watchtowers,’ and ‘moats.’ Don’t forget your snowballs and snowman sentries!
  57. Play a board game you loved as a child but now think you’re too old for. Returning to activities you enjoyed during your childhood is never boring.
  58. Arm yourself with some scraps of wood, nails, glue and a hammer and see what you can create.
  59. Learn a new card trick and amuse your folks at dinner.
  60. Paint a picture.

A Growing Problem

Cyber bullying is the harassment, embarrassment or bullying using technology.

Cyber bullying is a growing problem and before actually researching this in my languge arts project, I didn't realize how dangerous it is. Every year, 4400 teens commit suicide because of cyberbullying. I don't want to bore you with all these statistics and information about cyberbullying. I just want to make a point; everything that you do can affect someone else. I want you to read this story about this girl named Megan Meier. Currently, there are 9 states with laws against cyber bullying. Unfortunately, in Megan's case the cyber bullies didn't get in trouble.

The Megan Meier Story: http://www.meganmeierfoundation.org/megansStory.php

Read it....tell me what you think.

Coke vs. Pepsi: Cola Supremacy

You may not have noticed it, but World War 3 has been going on in the beverage world for over 114 years. Coke-Cola and Pepsi Co. have been rivals since 1898, when Pepsi was created.
Being colas, Coke and Pepsi definitely taste very similar. Many people cannot even tell them apart if they don’t know which one they are drinking. However there are other people who are very adamant in their preference of either Pepsi or Coke. Some say that Pepsi is sweeter, others feel that Coke has a crisper flavor so they like it better. Some prefer the aftertaste of one over the other. There are even those who prefer one brand when drinking from a can and the other from a bottle. Most people find it more difficult to tell them apart when they are served as a fountain drink in a restaurant. It’s all about your own personal taste.  The rivalry between the companies is evident in their marketing. Both the companies have different approach to advertisements. Coke-Cola aims their marketing towards the nostalgic side. For example, they use Santa Claus to bring back memories of the merry times of Winter holidays and makes customers feel connected with their childhood/memories when drinking Coke. Coke-Cola definitely tugs on the heart string when advertising. Pepsi on the other hand tries to aim their products for a younger generation. " The choice for the next generation" is one of the sayings they used for their ads. Teens and kids are more likely to drink this beverage by watching the ads. Next time you drink a Pepsi/Coke don't just think about the taste, assess the other factors as well.

One Crazy Thing to Do Before You Die:

Get in a physical fight.

One Crazy Fact of the Day:
A snail can sleep for 3 years

The Delightful Delicacy: Chocolate

Today's post is about the world famous and loved food called chocolate. People all over the world love chocolate because of its sweet taste, but it is also known for its deadly calorie supply. I would like to teach you about chocolate and how to eat it healthily. Chocolate is a processed sweet made from the seed of a cacao tree. There are three main types: milk, dark and white. I personally like dark, but milk chocolate is the most popular. Last year, I went to Brugge, Belgium and visited a chocolate mueseam. I learned a lot of surpriseing facts. Cocoa beans were dicovered by the Aztecs in Latin America. They first used chocolate as a holy drink for the rich. Cocoa beans were used as currency, so only the people who could afford to eat it ate it. Over centureis of time, chocolate spread all around the world.n Milton Hershey took this lovely sweet and created a business. By 1907, the Hershey Company was making 33 million Hershey Kisses a day. This is just a little summary about chocolate, but I'm not here to give you a history lesson so if you want to learn more about the history of chocolate click below.
                                              http://www.choco-story.be/ENG/history.htm

Fun Facts:
-The Swiss consumme the most chocolate per capita
-there are about 5 milligrams of caffeine in a milk chocolate bar
- The name chocolate comes from the Aztec word xocalati meaning bitter water
-More than 66 percent of the worlds cacao is produced in Africa and 98 percent of the worlds cocoa is produced by just 15 countries
- twice as many women eat and crave chocolate than men
-17,000 people in Belgium work in the chocolate industry
-Almost half the world's chocolate is consumed in America
- More than 7 billion chocolate chips are eaten annually

Stereotypes about Chocolate:
1. Chocolate isn't nutritious
-While chocolate is high in calories and fat, new research shows the it contains antioxidants that can help fight disease. Cocoa is also high in magnesium which is linked to a healthy heart and joints. Chocolate has long been considered a good source of energy.
2.Chocolate make you fat
-That is only partially true. It's not the cocoa that makes you fat it is the sugar in it that makes you fat. Dark chocolate is healthier because it has less sugar. Bottom line: eat chocolate in moderation.
3.Does chocolate cause acne?
-again, it isn;t chocolate that causes acne. Oil buildup and high blood sugar cause acne. If you eat more sugar, then there is more chance of you to get acne.

While chocolate is a delicious confectionary, it should be eaten  in moderation and enjoyed tremendously.

Frugal Shopping

I am not usually the type of person who likes to shop a lot. But when I do, I make sure I don't overspend. I like staying under my budget and spending money on things I need.
Rules about Shopping
1. If it doesn't make you jump up and down, don't buy it
2. If you find 2 things that you really like and can't decide which one, buy the cheaper one
3. (Back to rule 2) If both the things are the same price, buy the one you picked up first.
4. If it's not something they would sell at Cameron Village(in other words, if it is not unique), don't buy it.
5. If it is over your budget, walk away.
6. If it is on sale and you think you will never find it again, buy it.
7. If you can buy it on eBay, buy it there for a cheaper price
Every time you go to the mall, keep a budget for yourself so you won't go out of control shopping and find yourself in a loan office in a couple years.

Daily Dose of Crazy

One Crazy Thing to Do Before You Die:
Have breakfast, lunch and dinner at the same fast food restaurant.
For ex: McDonalds, Wendy's, Taco Bell, etc.

One Crazy Fact of the Day:
You share your birthday with at least 9 million people.

Success is the Result of Failure

Everybody fails. That's a fact. There is no argument or any debate. Everybody fails once in their lifetime, if not more. Now sometimes people think that is a bad thing, but I say that it is good. Today for instance, I had driver's education and I failed. We had our first hands on experience actually driving and I was the only person in the whole class who crashed into a curb twice. I was feeling a little down by this failure, but I think that I have actually benefited from this failure and eventually turn it into a success. For our confused readers, I will explain everything to you in an easier "English."

So, let me set up a situation for you. Let's say that you are riding a bike and then you fall. That really sucks, but happened to everybody. Then, you try again and then fall, but this time you stayed on the bike longer. After that, the third time you tried, you could ride your bike perfectly. I'm not saying that you can learn to ride a bike perfectly after 3 tries(because that would be abnormally genius), I am just trying to get a point across. You see that each time you failed to ride a bike, it made you better each time and eventually you were able to ride your bike perfectly. Failure is merely a setback and drives you towards success even more.

If you ever fail in life, I want you to know that you are not alone.

Famous and Successful People that have Failed in Life

1.Henry Ford: While Ford is today known for his innovative assembly line and American-made cars, he wasn't an instant success. In fact, his early businesses failed and left him broke five times before he founded the successful Ford Motor Company.
2.R. H. Macy: Most people are familiar with this large department store chain, but Macy didn't always have it easy. Macy started seven failed business before finally hitting big with his store in New York City.
3.Bill Gates: Gates didn't seem like a shoe-in for success after dropping out of Harvard and starting a failed first business with Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen called Traf-O-Data. While this early idea didn't work, Gates' later work did, creating the global empire that is Microsoft.
4.Walt Disney: Today Disney rakes in billions from merchandise, movies and theme parks around the world, but Walt Disney himself had a bit of a rough start. He was fired by a newspaper editor because, "he lacked imagination and had no good ideas." After that, Disney started a number of businesses that didn't last too long and ended with bankruptcy and failure. He kept plugging along, however, and eventually found a recipe for success that worked.
5.Harland David Sanders: Perhaps better known as Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame, Sanders had a hard time selling his chicken at first. In fact, his famous secret chicken recipe was rejected 1,009 times before a restaurant accepted it.
6.Albert Einstein: Most of us take Einstein's name as synonymous with genius, but he didn't always show such promise. Einstein did not speak until he was four and did not read until he was seven, causing his teachers and parents to think he was mentally handicapped, slow and anti-social. Eventually, he was expelled from school and was refused admittance to the Zurich Polytechnic School.
7.Abraham Lincoln: While today he is remembered as one of the greatest leaders of our nation, Lincoln's life wasn't so easy. In his youth he went to war a captain and returned a private (if you're not familiar with military ranks, just know that private is as low as it goes.) Lincoln didn't stop failing there, however. He started numerous failed business and was defeated in numerous runs he made for public office.
8.Oprah Winfrey: Most people know Oprah as one of the most iconic faces on TV as well as one of the richest and most successful women in the world. Oprah faced a hard road to get to that position, however, enduring a rough and often abusive childhood as well as numerous career setbacks including being fired from her job as a television reporter because she was "unfit for tv."
9.Marilyn Monroe: While Monroe's star burned out early, she did have a period of great success in her life. Despite a rough upbringing and being told by modeling agents that she should instead consider being a secretary, Monroe became a pin-up, model and actress that still strikes a chord with people today.
10.J. K. Rowling: Rowling may be rolling in a lot of Harry Potter dough today, but before she published the series of novels she was nearly penniless, severely depressed, divorced, trying to raise a child on her own while attending school and writing a novel. Rowling went from depending on welfare to survive to being one of the richest women in the world in a span of only five years through her hard work and determination.

Daily Dose of Crazy

One Crazy Thing to Do Before You Die:
Get kicked out of 3 department stores in one day.

One Crazy Fact of the Day:
Women blink nearly twice as much as men.

Fashion Trend: YOLO

You Only Live Once
How many times have you heard this word YOLO? This phrase has become very popular in the teen culture as famous movie stars wear clothing that says YOLO. In case you didn't know, this acronym gained popularity when Drake and Tyga released their song "The Motto" and used the words "you only live once, that's the motto, YOLO".  Now, the phrase has been blown out of proportion and used for everything.

Selena Gomez wearing YOLO!!
For example:

anonymous girl's Facebook status: What's up? YOLO!

What's the deal with YOLO?

ME Day

Have you ever felt super tired? Not in a lazy way, but because you were working hard for everybody else. Sometimes is necessary to give yourself a treat and in this post, that is exactly what I am going to teach you how to do. Follow these steps to to make today truly a "me day."

Step 1: Find your happy place: When I say this I mean literally and figuratively. Find one accessible place that relaxes you and you won't be disturbed. For example, this could be your bedroom, a salon, a sauna or even a library. Once you have found that place, think. That is the one way to reflect on your thoughts and actions and benefits your well being. Now, when you close your eyes look for a sight that pleases you. This could be a beach, utopia, across the world or anywhere. The choices are endless.

Step 2: Once you have found your happy place, it's time to keep the happiness going and pamper yourself. One really good way to relax, especially for the ladies, is get a mani/pedi. You could get a massage, even if it's one at a kiosk at the mall. You can do whatever you want, but keep two things in mind: you should be happy and you shouldn't be doing it for anybody else but you.

Step 3: Sleep. Sometimes the best yet simplest way to pamper yourself is to sleep. Every now and then a nap is required. It gives you a boost of energy and relieves you from the stressful environment around you.

Take my advice and at least once a week dedicate one day only to yourself. Here are websites you can look at if you want more ideas.

Daily Dose of Crazy

One crazy thing to do before you die:
Host a Christmas party in July

One crazy fact of the day:
Babies aren't born with knee caps, they develop them between the age of 2 and 6

Fashion Trend: Roo Cups

What's up with Roo Cups? Now, if you are reading this and have no idea what I am talking about, that's good and hopefully you will never have to encounter a Roo Cup in your life.  Kangaroo, the gas station, sells this ugly water bottle thing above for $7 and then gives smoothie refills for $0.25. It sounds like a good deal but it's not. I am not even kidding I see them everywhere I go. It's just a plastic cup, and I don't understand why everybody has one. The smoothies don't even taste that good and what annoys me the most it is that once your done drinking your disgusting smoothie, people fill it up with water. Who does that? Just use a water bottle and don't contaminate clean water with gross smoothie germs. I know some of you may think I am crazy for raging like this, but it needs to be said. Roo cups are the most annoying piece of plastic ever created.

The Lazy Day...

Have you ever felt like not doing anything? If your answer to this question is no, I would go to a doctor right now because that is not normal. Well, today for me that was one of those days. I just sat around doing nothing and listening to music. The only anti-lazy thing I did today was create my blog which is what you are reading right now. Well, I think the laziness is kicking back in so I have to go. Enjoy the blog!

Summer Bummer

One of the biggest problems that a lot of people face is boredom during summer vacation. In my opinion, North Carolina is definitely isn't a good place to be in the summer. I know that a lot of other places are much hotter than NC right now, but honestly I don't think the pleasant weather state of North Carolina is ready to take on the challenge of global warming. During summer, the best thing to do is go outside. You can play with your friends, go to the pool and play pranks on people. That is usually what people do during the summer, but not now. Do you know why? Because, if you walk outside, I can guarantee you will melt into human soup within one hour. So, going outside isn't an option for most of the day, so what are you supposed to do inside? No one can watch TV or play video games for the entire day without our parents nagging us to do something productive. I am pretty positive that no one wants to spend three months of vacation studying. Friends, I welcome you to the Summer Bummer. While you are figuring out how to spend endless hours indoors, try reading my blog if you want a laugh once in a while or need to catch up on the latest fashion trends.
